#WritersLife

So last night I was finally able to start on NaNoWriMo. The day before, I only caught four hours of sleep in between shifts, and yesterday was a long day. I set myself a simple goal of 1,000 words, which is about half of what I should, in theory be averaging a day. But I met my first writing goal.

Writing long pieces was never my forte. I finally managed a balance my second semester during my first bout with grad school. I would outline everything to where I would just type my notes and find transitions and make it readable. And right now, if I am going to writing at least 1,000 words a day, I need some sort of structure or plot. Well, to be fair, I have an idea of what I want to do and I already have a background established for my character’s that I want to use.

I don’t know. I went to bed early and I find myself up with a bout of insomnia watching PBS and trying to write about writing. Maybe I can use this time productively and write a plot outline so I can write another 1,000 words before I go into work tonight. If not, it’s going to be at least 2,000 words tomorrow night.

I will say this however, keeping my piece of writing updated in my Google Docs might be a good idea so I can write on my phone if I find myself with a moment and keep is easier to update in the oddest places.
